Ami Vitale is an award-winning photographer and photojournalist whose work has taken her around the world to more than 90 countries! At the beginning of her career, Ami’s work focused on conflict. She told stories by taking photographs of wars, civil unrest, and border disputes As her career has progressed, Ami’s turned her lens to wildlife stories, including efforts to reintroduce endangered animals like northern white rhinos and giant pandas. Ami believes that in order to cover a story, she needs to understand it through living it. This means she’s lived in mud huts, visited dangerous war zones and contracted malaria to get the exact photo she needs. She’s even worn a urine drenched panda bear costume in order to get the shot.
