Techapella 2018

Techapella 2018
What is Techapella?

TECHAPELLA [tek-a-pell-a]
- Noun
* A collaborative musical ensemble consisting of several individual a cappella groups from Silicon Valley's tech world.
* An end-of-year performance that showcases the talents of the participating tech a cappella groups and brings the community together for a night of music, fun and camaraderie.

"One of the truest things in life is that where there are nerds, there is a cappella. Thus, as Silicon Valley has taken over as the nerd capital of the world, the hills outside of San Francisco have come alive with the sound of unaccompanied vocal harmonies."
NYMag, October 2017

2018 is our sixth year hosting Techapella and we're so excited with how our a cappella showcase has grown!

We have more than a dozen groups participating this year, with more already expressing interest for next years collaborative concerts. Between our two shows, you'll hear the sweet harmonies of the tech industry’s most visible (a cappella) companies: Googapella and Alphabeat (both from Google), The Vocal Network (Facebook), The Keynotes (Apple), InTune (LinkedIn), Syncopation (Dropbox), as well as Funderstruck (an inter-company techie mix) and our newest group The Chromotones (23andMe).

The informal, non-competitive concert setting allows for participants to expand the reach of their artistic expression in a friendly, welcoming environment while exhibiting their collective talent in a vocal spectacle that has continually drawn sold-out crowds. In past years, vocal groups have performed a dynamic spread of tunes ranging from the latest pop hits to jazz and doo-wop classics. You'll even hear the occasional beat box battle.
